Regulatory and distribution initiatives have broadened and deepened the market for foreign investment funds, and expanded sales channels. Local investment houses are rising to the challenge of cross-border competition, and the investment markets of the region are seeing a period of great dynamism and growth. As these developments are regulator-led, the region is also seeing growth in demand for dedicated legal support and guidance.

Our investment funds capability includes the structuring, establishment and marketing of offshore and onshore retail and private investment funds across asset classes, the establishment and licensing of fund management companies, and industry-related regulatory compliance advice.  Our private funds services include the structuring of alternative investment funds, including private equity funds.

Regulatory Technology & Financial Technology

The FinTech arena constantly presents new sources of commercial disruption. New technologies erode traditional boundaries across multiple legal fields, and demand brand new thinking and deep insight, coupled with practical experience.

We have advised on policy, protection and practice since the early stages of development of FinTech in Malaysia, helping our clients navigate regulations in areas as diverse as equity crowd funding, electronic evidence and online payment systems. We assist in calibrating and balancing the concerns and aims of regulators, authorities and governments with fresh thinking around our clients’ commercial realities.
